About the course and how the levels work

Each lesson is one short, natural conversation in Tagalog with an English translation and audio, plus a ready-made Anki deck: everything you need to learn by understanding, without pressure.

The course is meant to be followed in order, but there's no rush. You can move forward when you're ready or revisit previous lessons as often as you like. Repetition is part of the process: it helps your brain internalize the language over time.

Tagalog shows respect in a few small words: po and opo for elders, strangers and customers, and kayo instead of ikaw. Every lesson says who the speakers are, women and men, young and old, so you pick up when to use them along with the words.

Tagalog is written in the Latin alphabet, mostly the way it sounds. The How to Use page has the few things worth knowing before Day 1.

Lessons are grouped into levels on the CEFR scale, the European standard that runs from A1 (beginner) to C2 (near native).

If this free course has helped you in your Tagalog journey, please consider supporting the project. It's a one-person effort, and even small contributions help keep it running and free for everyone.
