Day 13 of 215

Day 13: Two Days in Rice

At a phone repair stall in a Quiapo mall, Alice (A), a customer, brings her phone to the technician, Rosalie (B).

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Pakitingnan po 'tong phone ko. Nahulog po sa timba ng tubig.

Could you please look at my phone? It fell into a pail of water.

  2. B

    Patingin po. Kailan po nangyari?

Let me see. When did it happen?

  3. A

Noong Linggo pa po. Dalawang araw ko pong ibinaon sa bigas!

Back on Sunday. I buried it in rice for two days!

  4. B

Ay, 'di po talaga gumagana 'yung bigas. Bubuksan ko po muna 'to.

Oh, rice doesn't really work. Let me open it up first.

  5. A

Ha? Sayang lang po pala 'yung dalawang araw!

What? So those two days were for nothing!
