Day 149 of 215

Day 149: Ten Years in Unit 2B

Randolf (B) has rented Unit 2B in the small apartment building that Tess (A) owns in Project 4, Quezon City, since he was a bachelor ten years ago, and today he comes to see her with news.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

O, Randolf, ang seryoso mo. May sira ba?

Oh, Randolf, you look serious. Is something broken?

  2. B

Wala po, Ate Tess. Nakabili na po kasi kami ng bahay.

No, Ate Tess. The thing is, we've bought a house.

  3. A

Aalis ka na? Matagal na kitang kilala, mula noong binata ka pa!

You're leaving? I've known you so long, since you were still a bachelor!

  4. B

Opo, sampung taon na po. Apat na po kami ngayon.

Yes, it's been ten years. There are four of us now.

  5. A

Dito na lang kayo hanggang Pasko. Sabay-sabay tayong mag-Noche Buena.

Stay here until Christmas. Let's all have Noche Buena together.

  6. B

Sige po, basta kayo po ang bahala sa hamon.

All right, as long as you take care of the ham.
