Day 158 of 215

Day 158: I Thought You Paid It

Henry (A) and his brother Orly (B), who run a carinderia together in Pasay, find a disconnection notice from Meralco taped to the door.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Orly, may notice ng Meralco sa pinto. Puputulan na raw tayo!

Orly, there's a Meralco notice on the door. It says they're cutting us off!

  2. B

Puputulan? Akala ko ikaw ang nagbayad noong Lunes!

Cut off? I thought you paid it on Monday!

  3. A

Ako? Akala ko nga ikaw, inabot ko pa sa 'yo 'yung bill.

Me? I thought you did. I even handed you the bill.

  4. B

Oo, tapos isinuksok ko sa kaha. Akala ko kinuha mo na.

Yeah, and I tucked it in the cash box. I thought you'd already taken it.

  5. A

Kaya pala sobra ang kaha natin kahapon!

So that's why we had extra in the cash box yesterday!

  6. B

E 'di nandiyan pa ang pambayad. Tara na sa Bayad Center!

Then the money for it is still there. Let's go to the Bayad Center!
