Day 16 of 215

Day 16: Kare-Kare on the Barong

At a garden wedding reception in Tagaytay, groomsman John (A) rushes over to his friend Rhys (B), a guest, minutes before the family photos.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Pare, natapunan ko ng sarsa ng kare-kare 'yung barong ko!

Dude, I spilled kare-kare sauce on my barong!

  2. B

Paano 'yan? Nadumihan pati 'yung manggas?

What now? The sleeve got stained too?

  3. A

Oo, pati manggas! Ten minutes na lang, family picture na.

Yeah, the sleeve too! Family photos are in ten minutes.

  4. B

Magpalit na lang tayo ng barong. Pareho naman tayo ng size.

Let's just swap barongs. We're the same size anyway.

  5. A

Seryoso ka? Pare, utang ko 'to sa 'yo!

Seriously? Dude, I owe you one!
