Day 200 of 215

Day 200: Three Bedrooms in Las Piñas

In the cramped two-bedroom condo they share in Makati, Hans (A) tells his roommates and friends Rey (B) and Isabel (C) about a three-bedroom house he has found in Las Piñas.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

May nakita akong bahay sa Las Piñas. Tatlong kuwarto na, pareho pa ang upa!

I found a house in Las Piñas. Three bedrooms, and the same rent!

  2. B

Las Piñas? E dalawang oras ang biyahe papuntang Makati!

Las Piñas? That's two hours to Makati!

  3. C

Tama si Hans, hindi naman kami araw-araw pumapasok. Ikaw lang ang onsite, Rey.

Hans is right, we don't go in every day. You're the only one who's onsite, Rey.

  4. A

Saka may sarili ka nang kuwarto, Rey. Wala nang hilik ko!

Plus you'd have your own room, Rey. No more of my snoring!

  5. B

Sarili kong kuwarto, walang hilik? Sige, tingnan natin sa Sabado.

My own room, and no snoring? Okay, let's go see it on Saturday.

  6. C

Pero tanungin muna natin kung bahain doon, ha?

But let's ask first whether it floods there, okay?
