Day 202 of 215

Day 202: Not the Lending App, Pa

At home, Kenneth (B) catches his father, Romeo (A), filling in a form on a lending app to borrow money for the family's overdue bills.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Kenneth, bakit hinihingi ng app 'yung contacts ko?

Kenneth, why does the app want my contacts?

  2. B

Lending app po ba 'yan, Pa? Tatawagan po nila lahat ng 'yan 'pag na-late kayo.

Is that a lending app, Dad? They'll call every one of them if you pay late.

  3. A

Wala na akong mahihiraman. Tatlong buwan na tayong hindi nakakabayad ng kuryente.

There's no one left to borrow from. We haven't paid the electric bill in three months.

  4. B

Sobrang laki po ng interes diyan. Sa SSS na lang po kayo mag-loan.

The interest on those is huge. Take out a loan from SSS instead.

  5. A

SSS? Pipila na naman ako buong araw.

SSS? I'll be standing in line all day again.

  6. B

Online na po ngayon, Pa. Ako na po ang bahala.

It's online now, Dad. Leave it to me.
