How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.
Dialogue
Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

Ma'am, sabi po sa ad, malapit lang daw dito ang MRT?
Ma'am, the ad said the MRT is close by?
-
B
Oo, malapit lang. Mga sampung minuto lang sa jeep.
Yes, it's close. Only about ten minutes by jeepney.
-
A
Sa jeep po? Akala ko po walking distance lang.
By jeepney? I thought it was walking distance.
-
B
Puwede rin namang lakarin, kung hindi ka nagmamadali. Mga kalahating oras.
You can walk it too, if you're not in a hurry. About half an hour.
-
A
Kalahating oras po? E 'di hindi po pala malapit!
Half an hour? So it's not close after all!
-
B
Malapit na 'yan, iha. Ang dati kong tenant, dalawang oras ang biyahe!
That's close, iha. My last tenant had a two-hour commute!
