Day 34 of 215

Day 34: Monstera Without a Pot

Lola Iday (A), who took up plants during the pandemic, shows her grandson Jordan (B) a rare monstera she wants to order online.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Jordan, paki-order mo nga itong monstera. Tatlong libo't limandaan lang!

Jordan, order this monstera for me, will you? It's only thirty-five hundred!

  2. B

May note po, Lola: "Ang halaman ay ipapadala nang walang paso at lupa."

There's a note, Lola: "The plant will be shipped without a pot or soil."

  3. A

    E ano naman?

    So what?

  4. B

Sa ganoong presyo, ugat lang po ang darating?

At that price, all you'll get is roots?

  5. A

Normal lang 'yan, apo. Ang dami kong paso at lupa rito!

That's normal, dear. I've got plenty of pots and soil here!
