Day 48: The House Lola Asuncion Built

On moving day in Marikina, Lola Asuncion (B) comes to hand over the keys of her old house to the young couple who bought it, Randy (A) and his wife Arianne (C).

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Lola, ang tibay pa po ng hagdan ninyo.

Lola, your staircase is still so solid.

  2. B

Narra 'yan. Ipinagawa ko noong maliliit pa ang mga anak ko.

That's narra. I had it built when my children were little.

  3. C

E 'yung kalamansi po sa labas, Lola?

And the calamansi tree outside, Lola?

  4. B

Ipinatanim 'yan ng asawa ko. Puwede ba akong kumuha ng sanga?

My husband had that planted. May I take a cutting?

  5. A

Siyempre po, Lola! Sa inyo pa rin po 'yan.

Of course, Lola! It's still yours.
