Day 57 of 215

Day 57: Three Things Before Moving In

Siblings Lyka (A) and Nash (B), who both work in Quezon City, go over what needs doing before they move into their first rented apartment.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Bago tayo lumipat, ipapapalit muna natin ang kandado, ha?

Before we move in, we're having the lock changed first, okay?

  2. B

Oo, tapos magpapalinis tayo ng aircon. Amoy-alikabok na, e.

Yeah, and we'll get the AC cleaned. It smells like dust.

  3. A

Saka magpapakabit pa tayo ng internet, siyempre.

And we still need to get internet installed, of course.

  4. B

Lahat-lahat, isang buwang upa na pala 'to, kulang lang ng five hundred!

Add it all up and that's a whole month's rent, minus five hundred!

  5. A

Kung ganoon, ako na lang ang maglilinis ng aircon.

In that case, I'll clean the AC myself.

  6. B

Ikaw? Noong nilinis mo 'yung electric fan, nasira.

You? When you cleaned the electric fan, it broke.
