Day 75 of 215

Day 75: The Mixer Behind the Wall

At noon, Anika (B), who works nights at a call center, knocks on the door of her next-door neighbor Isaac (A), who bakes bread to sell online.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Uy, Anika, gising ka na? Tanghali pa lang, a.

Hey, Anika, you're up? It's only noon.

  2. B

Paano ako makakatulog? Yumayanig 'yung kuwarto ko sa mixer mo.

How am I supposed to sleep? Your mixer's shaking my whole room.

  3. A

Sorry, sorry! Ilalayo ko na sa pader 'yung mixer.

Sorry, sorry! I'll move the mixer away from the wall.

  4. B

Salamat. Puyat na puyat na kasi ako.

Thanks. I'm just so short on sleep.

  5. A

Ipagtatabi kita ng ensaymada tuwing umaga. Ipagbabalot pa kita para sa trabaho.

I'll save you some ensaymada every morning. I'll even pack you some for work.

  6. B

Suhol ba 'yan? Sige na nga, tanggap na ang sorry mo.

Is that a bribe? Oh, fine, apology accepted.
