Day 86 of 215

Day 86: A Cake for the Kapampangans

Over lunch at a carinderia near the office, Karla (A) tells her officemate Tim (B) about her plans for Sunday.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

Mga kababayan ko 'yan! Ano ang dadalhin mo?

Those are my people! What are you bringing?

I'm baking them a chocolate cake.

  4. B

Bawat tita doon, may sikat na dessert. Ibili mo na lang ng bulaklak ang nanay niya.

Every tita there has a famous dessert. Just buy his mom some flowers.

  5. A

Sige, bulaklak na lang. Akin na lang ang cake.

Fine, flowers it is. The cake's all mine, then.
