Day 35 of 185

Day 35: Not on the Close Friends List

On their lunch break at an office in Ortigas, a few days before her birthday, Alexis (A) confronts her best friend Desiree (B) about the stories she can no longer see.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Des, tinanggal mo ba ako sa Close Friends mo? Wala na akong makitang story.

Des, did you take me off your Close Friends? I can't see any of your stories.

  2. B

Ha? Ano ka ba, wala lang 'yon.

    Huh? Come on, it's nothing.

  3. A

Wala lang? Pati si Jopet ng accounting, kasama sa list, tapos ako hindi?

Nothing? Even Jopet from accounting is on the list, and I'm not?

  4. B

Kahit na mukhang masama, malinis pa rin ang konsensiya ko, promise.

It may look bad, but my conscience is still clear, I promise.

  5. A

Hindi sapat 'yan! Best friend mo ako, dapat alam ko.

That's not good enough! I'm your best friend, I should know.

  6. B

Hindi ko pa puwedeng sabihin. Basta, malalaman mo rin sa Sabado.

I can't tell you yet. Just trust me, you'll find out on Saturday.
