How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Ito ang kuwarto mo. Sakaling bumaha, nasa itaas ka naman.

This is your room. If it ever floods, well, you're upstairs.

  2. B

Ayos po. May curfew po ba rito?

Great. Is there a curfew here?

  3. A

Alas-onse. Kung sakaling gabihin ka, mag-text ka lang sa akin.

Eleven. If you're ever out late, just text me.

  4. B

Sige po. Sa Tarlac po kasi, alas-nuwebe pa lang, tulog na kami.

Sure. Back in Tarlac, we're asleep by nine anyway.

  5. A

    Taga-Tarlac ka pala? Saang bayan?

Oh, you're from Tarlac? Which town?

  6. B

Sa Camiling po. Alam po ba ninyo 'yon?

    Camiling. Do you know it?

  7. A

Aba, doon ako lumaki! Dito ka na mananghalian sa Linggo, ha.

Why, that's where I grew up! Come have lunch here on Sunday, okay?
