Day 284 of 320

Day 284: Still a Flatterer, Willy

In line at the city hall, Estela (A) runs into Willy (B), who worked with her at a bank twenty years ago.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

    Willy, ikaw ba iyan?

    Willy, is that you?

Mas payat ka ngayon kaysa noon, Estela!

You're thinner now than you were back then, Estela!

  3. A

Bola, may uban at kulubot na ako.

You flatterer. I've got gray hair and wrinkles now.

  4. B

    E ako, kalbo na!

And look at me, I've gone bald!
