Day 109 of 265

Day 109: Front Row From the Veranda

On the afternoon of the town fiesta, old Mang Nardo (A) finds the fiesta stage going up right outside his house and goes to complain to Sonny (B), the head of the fiesta committee.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Sonny, bakit dito ang entablado? Maingay na naman mamaya!

Sonny, why is the stage right here? It's going to be noisy again tonight!

  2. B

Pasensiya na po. Pagkatapos ng prusisyon, kundiman lang po.

Sorry about that. After the procession, it's only kundiman songs.

  3. A

Kundiman? Bakit ngayon mo lang sinabi?

Kundiman? Why didn't you tell me sooner?

  4. B

    Pinakamaganda po ang puwesto ninyo!

You've got the best seat in town!

  5. A

Ilalabas ko ang tumba-tumba. Papalakpak ako sa beranda!

I'm bringing out my rocking chair. I'll be clapping from the veranda!
