Day 157 of 265

Day 157: No Cure for Old Age

Dexter (A) comes to see his mother Conching (B) the morning after she nearly fainted at the market.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Ma, balak ko po kayong dalhin sa doktor.

Mom, I'm planning to take you to the doctor.

  2. B

Muntik lang akong mahimatay, ayos na ako.

I only nearly fainted. I'm fine now.

  3. A

Hindi po ako kampante, kailangan ninyo ng ultrasound.

I can't rest easy. You need an ultrasound.

  4. B

Sige, para mawala ang pangamba mo. Pero walang lunas sa katandaan!

Fine, to put your mind at ease. But there's no cure for old age!
