Day 228 of 265

Day 228: Friday Off for the Final Exam

At his old hardware store in Malabon, Mang Doroteo (A) sees that Tim (B), the working student who helps him, has something to ask.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

    O, Tim, ano iyon?

    So, Tim, what is it?

  2. B

Kung puwede po sana, liliban ako sa Biyernes. May exam po.

If it's all right, I'd like to take Friday off. I have an exam.

  3. A

Makatwiran iyan, flexible naman ako. Pero isa lang ang tuntunin: dapat may kahalili ka.

That's reasonable, and I'm flexible. But there's one rule: you need someone to fill in for you.

  4. B

Mayroon na po. Salamat po sa konsiderasyon!

I already have someone. Thank you for your consideration!
