Day 91 of 160

Day 91: The Last Bazaar Stall

At a Christmas bazaar in a mall parking lot in Quezon City, Noel (A), a young maker of handmade leather bags, asks Abner (B), the organizer, about a stall for the rest of the season.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Sir Abner, may puwesto pa po ba? Leather bags po ang tinda ko.

Sir Abner, do you have any stalls left? I sell leather bags.

  2. B

Isa na lang, sa tabi ng entrance. Labinlimang libo, at may dalawa pang nagtatanong.

Just one, by the entrance. Fifteen thousand, and two others are asking about it.

  3. A

Fifteen? I can only do ten, my business is still new.

  4. B

The shrimp that sleeps is swept away by the current. If someone pays later today, you're out of a stall.

  5. A

Honesty makes for a lasting partnership. Ten is really all I can do.

  6. B

Matigas ka rin, ha. Pero sa entrance, hindi puwede ang sampu.

You're a tough one, huh. But ten won't do for the entrance.

  7. A

What about the back, near the food court? Everyone walks by there after eating.

  8. B

There's a corner back there I wasn't even selling, next to the restroom. Fine, ten it is.

  9. A

I'll take it! With the line for the restroom, I might even sell more there.
