Day 6: Can a Chatbot Have Loob?
Over merienda at her grandaunt's house in Teachers Village, Quezon City, Jen (A), a data scientist, proudly shows Lola Meding (B), a retired philosophy professor, that her company's Tagalog chatbot knows when to bring up utang na loob.
How to study this lesson 3 steps

La, kinuwento ko po sa chatbot na pinautang ako ng kapitbahay. Sagot niya, "Huwag kalimutang tumanaw ng utang na loob."
La, I told the chatbot a neighbor lent me money. Its answer: "Don't forget the debt of gratitude you owe."

Aba, mas magalang pa sa mga apo ko. May loob ba iyan, o salita lamang?
Well, it has better manners than my grandchildren. Does it have loob, or only words?

Tine-train po ang model sa isang bilyong pangungusap, kaya alam nito kung kailan magpapasalamat.
The model is trained on a billion sentences, so it knows when to say thank you.

Alam nito ang salita, iha, hindi ang bigat. Ang utang na loob ay dinadala, hindi binibigkas.
It knows the words, dear, not the weight. A debt of gratitude is carried, not recited.

Pero sa output po, wala nang pinagkaiba. Pasado po ito sa lahat ng benchmark.
But in the output there's no difference anymore. It passed every benchmark.

Let's test it: ask it whether it would be hurt if you didn't thank it.

Sabi po niya, "Bilang AI, wala akong damdamin." Ay, honest naman po siya.
It says, "As an AI, I have no feelings." Well, at least it's honest.

Mas tapat pa pala sa iyo. Walang loob na masasaktan, kaya walang loob na mapagkakautangan.
So it's more honest than you are. No loob to be hurt, so no loob to be indebted to.
