Day 112 of 215

Day 112: She Wanted to Sing Too

The morning after her loud birthday videoke party, Justine (A) brings a plate of leftover pancit to her neighbor Aling Yolly (B), a nurse, to apologize.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Aling Yolly, pasensiya na po sa ingay kagabi. Pancit po, pambawi.

Aling Yolly, sorry about the noise last night. Here's some pancit to make up for it.

  2. B

Uy, salamat! Ang saya ninyo kagabi, ha.

Oh, thank you! You all sure were having fun last night.

  3. A

Kung alam ko lang po na maaga ang duty ninyo, hininaan ko sana.

If only I'd known you had an early shift, I would have turned it down.

  4. B

Hindi naman 'yung ingay ang problema, e. Hindi mo man lang ako niyayang kumanta!

The noise isn't really the problem. You didn't even ask me to sing!

  5. A

Talaga po? Kumakanta po pala kayo?

    Really? So you sing?

  6. B

Siyempre! Sana tinawag mo na lang ako, may piyesa pa naman ako.

Of course! You should have just called me over. I even have a go-to song.
