How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

A
Hala, ayaw nang umandar. Naubusan yata tayo ng gas.
Uh-oh, it won't start. I think we're out of gas.
-
B
Seryoso? Padilim na, wala pa tayong nadaanang gasolinahan.
Seriously? It's getting dark, and we haven't passed a single gas station.
-
A
Itulak na lang natin, tapos magtanong tayo sa kahit anong tindahan.
Let's just push it and ask at any store we find.
-
B
Ayun, may tindahan! Nagtitinda pa sila ng gasolina sa bote ng softdrinks.
Look, a store! And they even sell gas in soda bottles.
-
A
Buti na lang! Kahit isang litro lang, basta makabalik tayo sa resort.
Thank goodness! Even just one liter, as long as we make it back to the resort.
-
B
O sige, ako na ang bibili. Ikaw ang magtulak, ha?
All right, I'll go buy it. You do the pushing, okay?
