Day 110 of 215

Day 110: Thirty Pots of Orchids

Lola Paz (B) is moving from her house in Lucena into the family home of her grandson James (A) in Cavite, and the moving truck is almost loaded.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Lola, puno na po ang truck.

    Lola, the truck is full.

  2. B

E ang tatlumpung orchid ko? Hindi ko sila puwedeng iwan.

What about my thirty orchids? I can't leave them behind.

  3. A

Kapag isiniksik pa po natin, lalo lang silang masisira.

If we squeeze them in too, it'll only make things worse for them.

  4. B

Kung alam ko lang, ipinamigay ko na sana ang kalahati.

If only I'd known, I would have given half of them away.

  5. A

Alam ko na po, bakante ang roof deck sa bahay! Babalikan ko po sila bukas.

I've got it, the roof deck at home is empty! I'll come back for them tomorrow.
