Day 114: Southbound by Mistake
On a bus that left Pasay a while ago, the conductor, Eddie (A), asks a young passenger, Harold (B), where he's getting off.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.
Dialogue
Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

A
Sir, saan ho kayo bababa?
Where are you getting off, sir?
-
B
Sa Cubao po. Malapit na po ba?
Cubao. Are we almost there?
-
A
Naku, Sir, pa-Alabang ho 'tong bus. Nasa SLEX na ho tayo.
Oh no, sir, this bus is going to Alabang. We're already on SLEX.
-
B
Ha? Kung alam ko lang po na pa-Alabang 'to, sa kabila sana ako sumakay.
What? If only I'd known it was going to Alabang, I would have caught one on the other side.
-
A
Bumaba na lang ho kayo sa Bicutan. Tumawid ho kayo, may mga bus doon na pa-Cubao.
Just get off at Bicutan and cross over. There are buses there going to Cubao.
-
B
Sige po, salamat. Sana po nagtanong muna ako bago sumakay.
Okay, thanks. I should have asked before I got on.
