Day 115 of 215

Day 115: Afraid to Drive on EDSA

Sitting in her parked car in front of her house, Stella (A) admits something about her new driver's license to her best friend Lalaine (B).

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Isang buwan na akong may lisensiya, pero 'di pa ako lumalabas ng subdivision.

I've had my license for a month, but I still haven't driven out of the subdivision.

  2. B

Normal lang 'yan. Kahit sino, kinakabahan sa umpisa.

That's normal. Anyone gets nervous at first.

  3. A

Paano kung sa EDSA na? Ang daming bus at motor!

What about when I get to EDSA? There are so many buses and motorcycles!

  4. B

E 'di sasamahan kita tuwing Linggo ng umaga, habang wala pang traffic.

Then I'll ride with you every Sunday morning, before the traffic starts.

  5. A

    Talaga? Kahit mabagal akong magmaneho?

Really? Even if I drive slowly?

  6. B

Oo naman, hanggang kaya mo na ang EDSA. Basta libre mo ang kape!

Of course, until you can handle EDSA. As long as the coffee's on you!
