Day 116 of 215

Day 116: The Parcel Was for Dad

At home, a delivery rider hands Bernard (B) a parcel addressed to his teenage son Yohan (A), who comes running.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Pa, akin po 'yan! Huwag po ninyong buksan.

Dad, that's mine! Please don't open it.

  2. B

Laro na naman, ano? Sayang lang ang pera mo sa mga ganyan.

Another game, huh? You're just wasting your money on that stuff.

  3. A

Hindi po laro, Pa. Regalo ko po talaga 'yan sa inyo sa Father's Day.

It's not a game, Dad. It's actually my Father's Day present for you.

  4. B

Sa akin? E saan ka kumuha ng pambili?

For me? Where did you get the money for it?

  5. A

Ako po mismo ang nagbayad, galing sa ipon ko.

I paid for it myself, out of my savings.

  6. B

Pasensiya na, anak. Sinermunan pa tuloy kita.

I'm sorry, son. And here I was lecturing you.
