Day 138 of 215

Day 138: A Parol Since September

Nadine (B) steps out to ask her older neighbor, Mang Ulding (A), about the hammering that has been coming from his garage since early morning.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

    O, Nadine, may kailangan ka?

Oh, Nadine, do you need something?

  2. B

Kanina pa po kasi kayo nagpupukpok, Mang Ulding. Ano po ba 'yan?

It's just that you've been hammering all morning, Mang Ulding. What is that?

  3. A

Parol para sa barangay contest. Mula pa noong Setyembre ko ito ginagawa.

A parol for the barangay contest. I've been making it since September.

  4. B

Ang laki po pala! Matagal na po ba kayong sumasali?

Wow, it's huge! Have you been entering for a long time?

  5. A

Matagal na, pero ngayon, panalo na tayo. Hawakan mo nga 'tong frame.

For years, but this time, we're winning. Here, hold this frame for me.
