Day 139 of 215

Day 139: Asking Her to the JS Prom

At home, Aldrich (B), a high school student, comes to his older sister (A) with a favor to ask about the JS Prom.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

O, bakit ganyan ka makatingin? May hihingin kang pabor, 'no?

Hey, why are you looking at me like that? You want a favor, don't you?

  2. B

Ate, ikaw na lang kaya ang mag-aya kay Francine sa prom?

Ate, could you be the one to ask Francine to the prom?

  3. A

Ayoko nga! Ikaw mismo ang dapat mag-aya sa kaniya.

No way! You have to ask her yourself.

  4. B

Kinakabahan kasi ako. Gumawa pa nga ako ng sign, o.

It's just that I'm nervous. I even made a sign, look.

  5. A

Ang cute! O, ikaw na talaga ang magbigay niyan sa kaniya.

That's so cute! Okay, now you really have to give it to her yourself.
