Day 147 of 215

Day 147: The Other San Isidro

In Laguna, Darlene (A), a young traveler, hires an older tricycle driver (B) at the town terminal to take her to a resort in San Isidro.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Manong, lalo po yata tayong napapalayo.

Manong, I think we're only getting farther away.

  2. B

Malapit na tayo sa San Isidro, ineng. Patingin nga ng mapa mo.

We're almost at San Isidro, ineng. Let me see your map.

  3. A

Heto po, sa San Isidro 'yung pin.

Here, the pin's in San Isidro.

  4. B

Naku, ibang San Isidro 'yan! Dito sa amin, walang resort.

Oh no, that's a different San Isidro! There's no resort in ours.

  5. A

Ay, akala ko po iisa lang ang San Isidro! Malayo pa po ba 'yon?

Oh, I thought there was only one San Isidro! Is it still far?

  6. B

Mga kalahating oras pa. Sige, ihahatid kita, dagdagan mo na lang ng dos siyentos.

About another half hour. All right, I'll take you, just add two hundred.
