Beth (B) is about to buy a new aircon because hers barely cools anymore, but first she lets Glenn (A), a young technician from an aircon cleaning service, take a look.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.
Dialogue
Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

A
Ma'am, tingnan po ninyo 'tong filter. Puro alikabok na po.
Ma'am, take a look at this filter. It's nothing but dust.
-
B
Ang dumi! Pero bibili na ako ng bago, ayaw nang lumamig, e.
That's filthy! But I'm buying a new one anyway. It just won't cool anymore.
-
A
Huwag po muna. Pati po 'yung coils, barado ng dumi.
Hold off for now. Even the coils are clogged with dirt.
-
B
Kaya pala mahina na ang lamig kahit naka-max.
So that's why it barely cools, even on max.
-
A
Opo. Pagkalinis ko, para na pong bago 'yan.
That's right. Once I've cleaned it, it'll be like new.
-
B
Akala ko kailangan ko nang bumili ng bago, linis lang pala ang kailangan!
I thought I had to buy a new one, and all it needed was a cleaning!
