Day 23 of 215

Day 23: The Crushed Box at the Gate

At his front gate, Ezekiel (A), a teenager home alone, receives a cash-on-delivery parcel from Xavier (B), a delivery rider.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Kuya, nayupi po 'yung box. Baka po nasira 'yung controller.

Kuya, the box got crushed. The controller might be broken.

  2. B

Pasensiya na. Bawal kasing buksan bago bayaran.

Sorry. The thing is, you can't open it before you pay.

  3. A

Paano po kung sira pala? Ipon ko pa naman po 'to.

What if it turns out it's broken? I saved up for this, too.

  4. B

Alugin mo muna. Kapag may kumakalog, i-refuse mo na lang.

Shake it first. If something rattles, just refuse it.

  5. A

May kumakalog nga po. Ire-refuse ko na lang po.

It does rattle. I'll just refuse it.
