Day 5 of 215

Day 5: Graveyard Shift Starts Monday

At a call center in Ortigas, new agent Elvin (A) goes to his team leader, Felix (B), after seeing next week's schedule.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Sir, sa graveyard po pala ako simula Monday?

Sir, so I'm on the graveyard shift starting Monday?

  2. B

Oo nga. Kulang kasi tayo ng agent sa gabi.

That's right. We're short on agents at night.

  3. A

Ang problema po, Sir, hirap akong matulog sa umaga.

The problem is, Sir, I have a hard time sleeping during the day.

  4. B

Pero may night differential ka naman. Dagdag 'yon sa sahod.

But you get night differential. That's extra on your pay.

  5. A

Ay, oo nga po pala! Sige po, sanayan lang 'yan.

Oh, right! Okay, I'll just have to get used to it.
