Day 6 of 215

Day 6: No Teasing at Tita's Party

A few days before her fiftieth birthday party, Tita Perla (A) makes sure her nephew Marlon (B) is coming, and he has a favor to ask.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Marlon, pupunta ka sa birthday ko, ha?

Marlon, you're coming to my birthday, right?

  2. B

Opo. Puwede ko po bang isama ang girlfriend ko?

Yes. Can I bring my girlfriend?

  3. A

    Aba, oo naman! Isama mo.

    Well, of course! Bring her.

  4. B

Tita, pakisabi po sa mga tita, 'wag na pong itanong kung kailan ang kasal.

Tita, please tell the other titas not to ask when the wedding is.

  5. A

Sige, 'di ko sila papayagan. Pero si Lola mo, ewan ko!

Okay, I won't let them. But your Lola, I can't promise anything!
