Day 59 of 215

Day 59: Cook Him His Favorite

At her house, Lola Ising (A) notices that her grown son Fernando (B), the father of a teenage boy, has something on his mind.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

O, Fernando, bakit ang lalim ng buntong-hininga mo?

Fernando, why such a deep sigh?

  2. B

Si Migo po, Ma. Puro cellphone sa kuwarto, 'di na po ako kinakausap.

It's Migo, Mom. He's always on his phone in his room, and he doesn't talk to me anymore.

  3. A

Tigilan mo muna ang sermon. Ipagluto mo siya ng paborito niya.

Stop the lectures for now. Cook him his favorite dish.

  4. B

    'Yon lang po, Ma?

    That's it, Mom?

  5. A

Ipaghain mo, tapos sabayan mo siyang kumain. Kayong dalawa lang.

Serve it to him, then sit down and eat with him. Just the two of you.
