Day 64 of 215

Day 64: Stop Inviting Me to Seminars

When Mercy (B) drops by, Eunice (A), her best friend since high school, finally tells her why she has been avoiding her.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Mercy, aaminin ko na. Iniiwasan kita kasi puro seminar ang invite mo.

Mercy, I'll admit it. I've been avoiding you because all you ever invite me to is seminars.

  2. B

Business opportunity 'yon, Eunice! 'Di naman 'yon scam.

    It's a business opportunity, Eunice! It's not a scam.

  3. A

'Yan ka na naman. 'Di ako interesado, Mercy.

There you go again. I'm not interested, Mercy.

  4. B

Pakinggan mo muna. Isang oras lang, libre pa ang lunch.

Just hear it out. It's only an hour, and lunch is free.

  5. A

Puwede bang magkape na lang tayo, gaya ng dati? Walang seminar.

Can't we just have coffee, like before? No seminars.

  6. B

Okay, kape lang. Pero dadalhin ko 'yung brochure, ha.

Okay, just coffee. But I'm bringing the brochure.
