Day 65 of 215

Day 65: Missed the Last Bus Down

In Sagada, Lovely (A) and her boyfriend Ian (B) reach the bus stop just after the last bus down to Baguio has left.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Ian, umalis na 'yung huling bus pa-Baguio!

Ian, the last bus to Baguio already left!

  2. B

Makisakay na lang tayo sa truck ng gulay. Makikiusap ako sa driver.

Let's just hitch a ride on a vegetable truck. I'll ask the driver.

  3. A

Sa likod, kasama ng repolyo? Mga anim na oras 'yon, Ian!

In the back, with the cabbages? That's about six hours, Ian!

  4. B

E may pasok tayo bukas. Ayaw mo namang ma-late, 'di ba?

But we have work tomorrow. You don't want to be late, right?

  5. A

Mag-stay pa tayo nang isang gabi sa inn. Okay lang mag-absent.

Let's stay one more night at the inn. It's fine to miss work.

  6. B

Ikaw talaga. Sunrise ulit sa Kiltepan, ha?

Oh, you. Sunrise at Kiltepan again, then?
