Day 83 of 215

Day 83: Black Sneakers with a Barong

At the barong fitting a week before the wedding, Troy (A), one of the ushers, has a request for his older sister Allysa (B), the bride.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Ate, puwede bang 'yung bago kong white sneakers ang suotin ko?

Ate, can I wear my new white sneakers?

  2. B

Sa kasal ko? Hindi puwede, Troy, naka-barong ka.

At my wedding? No way, Troy, you'll be in a barong.

  3. A

Kahit sa reception lang, Ate, sige na. Uso naman 'yon ngayon.

Just for the reception, Ate, come on. It's in style these days.

  4. B

Ganito na lang. Kahit anong sapatos, basta itim.

Tell you what. Any shoes you want, as long as they're black.

  5. A

Kahit sneakers? Ayos, may itim din ako!

Even sneakers? Sweet, I've got black ones too!
