Day 89 of 215

Day 89: No Boats to Puerto Galera

At Batangas Port on their anniversary weekend, Rebecca (A) and her husband Val (B) learn that no boats are leaving for Puerto Galera because of strong winds.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Walang biyahe, ang lakas daw ng hangin. Umuwi na lang tayo.

The boats aren't running, they say the wind's too strong. Let's just go home.

  2. B

Sayang naman 'yung anniversary natin. Kahit bukas na lang tayo tumawid.

It'd be a shame to waste our anniversary. We can cross tomorrow if we have to.

  3. A

E saan tayo matutulog? Wala tayong booking dito.

So where do we sleep? We don't have a booking here.

  4. B

Kahit saan, basta may lomi. Tapos first trip tayo bukas.

Anywhere, as long as there's lomi. Then we take the first trip tomorrow.

  5. A

Ikaw talaga, puro ka lomi. Sige na nga.

You and your lomi. Oh, all right.
