Day 105: The E-Wallet Goes Down
At her school supplies store across from a public school in Marikina, Luz (B) can't understand why her customers' e-wallet payments won't go through, and her niece Hannah (A) checks the news.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.
Dialogue
Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

Tita, bakit po nakatayo lang ang mga estudyante sa harap?
Tita, why are the students just standing around out front?
-
B
Ayaw pumasok ng bayad nila sa e-wallet. Signal ba 'to?
Their e-wallet payments won't go through. Is it the signal?
-
A
Nasa balita po, Tita. Nagkakaproblema raw po ang app mula kaninang umaga, kaya naman walang nakakapagbayad.
It's in the news, Tita. The app's been having problems since this morning, which is why nobody can pay.

B
Mula kaninang umaga? Ilang benta na kaya ang nawala sa akin?
Since this morning? I wonder how many sales I've lost.
-
A
Sa ngayon, cash muna po tayo. Gagawa po ako ng karatula sa labas.
For now, let's take cash only. I'll put up a sign outside.
-
B
Paano 'yung mga walang dalang cash? Puro e-wallet na ang mga bata ngayon.
What about the ones who don't carry cash? The kids all use e-wallets now.

A
Ilista po muna natin ang mga suki. Araw-araw naman po silang dumadaan.
Let's put the regulars on a tab for now. They come by every day anyway.
