Day 106: A Job Through Dad's Classmate

At dinner at home in Parañaque, Roger (A) tells his daughter Camille (B), a new marketing graduate, that he has arranged a job for her at the company of his old classmate.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

  1. A

Camille, I've talked to your Tito Boyet. You start on Monday.

  2. B

What? Please just tell him thank you, but no.

  3. A

Pareng Raul's son has been out of work for a year. Just take it.

  4. B

I want to look for one myself, so that I'll know I earned it.

  5. A

Magreretiro na ako sa Disyembre. Gusto ko sanang may trabaho ka na.

I'm retiring in December. I was hoping you'd have a job by then.

  6. B

So that's why. Just give me three months, and if I still have nothing, I'll take it.

  7. A

Sige.

All right. I'll tell Boyet not to give the job to anyone else just yet.
