Day 133 of 185

Day 133: The School Van Is Late Again

At six in the morning in Pasig, Ofelia (A), who runs a small school van service, asks her young driver Niel (B) why three parents complained that their children reached school late again.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Tatlong magulang ang nag-text sa akin, Niel. Late na naman daw ang mga bata.

Three parents texted me, Niel. They say the kids were late again.

  2. B

Pasensiya na po. Nagkakaproblema po tayo sa bagong one-way sa Kapitolyo.

I'm sorry. We've been having trouble with the new one-way in Kapitolyo.

  3. A

Kaya pala. Ilang minuto ang nadadagdag sa biyahe mo?

So that's why. How many minutes does it add to your trip?

  4. B

Mga twenty minutes po. Hindi na po ako nakakapagsundo sa oras mula noong Lunes.

About twenty minutes. I haven't been able to pick them up on time since Monday.

  5. A

E 'di baliktarin natin ang ruta: Kapitolyo muna, saka ang San Antonio.

Then let's reverse the route: Kapitolyo first, then San Antonio.

  6. B

Puwede po 'yan, hindi na tayo iikot. Ite-text ko na po ang mga magulang.

That could work, then we won't have to go around. I'll text the parents now.
