Day 141 of 185

Day 141: Six Months on Friday

At a department store in a mall in Mandaluyong after closing, floor supervisor Manny (A) thanks Amara (B), a contractual sales clerk, for staying late.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Salamat sa pag-stay mo nang late, Amara. Malaking tulong 'yon sa inventory.

Thanks for staying late, Amara. That was a big help with the inventory.

  2. B

It was nothing, Sir. It'll be six months for me here on Friday, by the way.

  3. A

Ganoon na pala katagal? Ang bilis, ano?

Has it been that long already? Time flies, huh?

  4. B

Opo.

Yes. I was just thinking, maybe there's still an opening for a regular position.

  5. A

May hiring freeze pa raw hanggang Disyembre.

You know how head office is, they've got a lot on their minds right now. And I hear there's a hiring freeze until December.

  6. B

All right, Sir. I'll just finish my last week properly, then.

  7. A

If you need a recommendation, I'll sign it myself.
