Day 159 of 185

Day 159: Working From La Union

On a work-from-home day, Wilson (A), a young copywriter at a digital marketing agency in Ortigas, joins a video call with his team manager Claire (B).

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Good morning po, Ma'am Claire. Naririnig po ba ninyo ako?

Good morning, Ma'am Claire. Can you hear me?

  2. B

Oo, malinaw na malinaw. Ang ganda yata ng signal diyan, may kasama pang alon.

Yes, loud and clear. The signal must be great there. It even comes with waves.

  3. A

Ah, medyo malapit lang po kasi sa dagat ang tinutuluyan ko ngayon.

Oh, the place I'm staying at right now is sort of close to the sea.

  4. B

Tuwing hapon, Away ang status mo. Kumusta naman ang alon?

Every afternoon, your status says Away. So, how are the waves?

  5. A

Ma'am, aaminin ko na po. Nasa La Union po ako, pero wala po akong na-miss na deadline.

Ma'am, I'll come clean. I'm in La Union, but I haven't missed a single deadline.

  6. B

Alam ko. Pero work from home ang usapan natin, Wilson, hindi work from beach.

I know. But our agreement was work from home, Wilson, not work from the beach.

  7. A

Opo. Uuwi na po ako mamayang gabi, bago pa ang meeting natin bukas.

Yes. I'll head home tonight, well before our meeting tomorrow.
