Day 173: Longganisa Orders at the Office

In the records section of a government office in Quezon City, Cristina (A) has a word with her longtime coworker Cora (B), who sells homemade longganisa to their officemates.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Cora, napansin na ng hepe natin ang pagtitinda mo ng longganisa.

Cora, our chief has noticed you selling longganisa.

  2. B

E ano naman? Siya pa nga ang umoorder sa akin.

So what? He orders from me himself.

  3. A

Kahit na. May memo na tungkol sa pagtitinda sa oras ng trabaho, kaya puwede kang masuspinde.

Even so. There's a memo now about selling during working hours, so you could get suspended.

  4. B

Alam mo namang pang-tuition ni Junjun 'yon. Hindi kasya ang suweldo ko.

You know that pays for Junjun's tuition. My salary isn't enough.

  5. A

Alam ko, kaya naman ayokong masuspinde ka. Sa tanghalian ka na lang magbenta.

I know, and that's exactly why I don't want you suspended. Just sell at lunchtime.

  6. B

Okay. Pero pakisabi sa hepe, may utang pa siyang dalawang pack sa akin.

Okay. But please tell the chief he still owes me for two packs.
