Day 177 of 185

Day 177: TikTok at Eight?

At Sunday lunch in Marikina, Divina (A) finds out that her mother Rosing (B) has helped Divina's eight-year-old daughter Sofia open a TikTok account on Lola's phone.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Mom, were you the one who made Sofia's TikTok account?

  2. B

Yes, I helped her. She only dances, and I'm the one keeping watch.

  3. A

The minimum age on TikTok is thirteen, Mom. Sofia's only eight.

  4. B

But I see so many kids on there who are even younger than her.

  5. A

That's exactly the problem. We don't know who's watching them.

  6. B

May natututuhan din naman siya. Natuto nga siyang magprito ng itlog doon.

She learns things there too. She even learned to fry an egg from it.

  7. A

All right, but she dances on your account instead, with you, and it's set to private.
