Day 29: Where Rod Goes on Saturdays

Driving home in his jeepney after the last trip of the night in Cubao, Dado (A) has a question for his son Rod (B), a university student riding beside him.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

  1. A

Rod, where do you go every Saturday morning? You don't have class.

  2. B

Sa counselor po sa university, Pa. May anxiety po kasi ako.

To the counselor at the university, Dad. I have anxiety.

  3. A

Anxiety?

Anxiety? I don't know. In my day, men kept that sort of thing to themselves.

  4. B

I know. That's exactly why I didn't tell you right away.

  5. A

Even if I don't understand it yet, I'll still drive you there on Saturday.

  6. B

Really? Okay, but you'll wait in the jeep.
