Day 33 of 185

Day 33: She Was My Trainee

In the crew room of a fast-food branch in Alabang, Earl (A), a senior crew member, runs into Bea (B), whom he trained and who has just been promoted to shift manager over him.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

O, ang bagong manager. Dapat ba kitang tawaging Ma'am na ngayon?

Well, if it isn't the new manager. Should I be calling you Ma'am now?

  2. B

Earl, ikaw ang nag-train sa akin. Hindi ko 'yon nakakalimutan.

Earl, you're the one who trained me. I haven't forgotten that.

  3. A

Talaga? Iba ka kasi kahapon sa harap ng area manager.

Really? You weren't like that yesterday in front of the area manager.

  4. B

Hindi lumaki ang ulo ko, Earl. Sana huwag ka namang maging balat-sibuyas.

The promotion hasn't gone to my head, Earl. I just hope you won't be so touchy.

  5. A

E ano'ng gusto mo, sumunod na lang ako sa dati kong trainee?

So what do you want, for me to just take orders from my old trainee?

  6. B

Hindi. Gusto kitang maging partner sa morning rush, ikaw ang pinakamagaling doon.

No. I want you as my partner for the morning rush. You're the best at it.
