Day 7 of 185

Day 7: Dad Wants to Be a Vlogger

At Sunday lunch at home in Malate, Manila, Leo (A) makes an announcement to his grown daughters, Mika (B) and Allysa (C), about a family vlog.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Mga anak, gagawa tayo ng family vlog. Malaki raw kumita ang mga pamilyang tulad natin.

Girls, we're starting a family vlog. Families like ours make good money, I hear.

  2. B

Pass po ako, Pa. Ayoko pong mag-viral ang mukha ko.

Count me out, Dad. I don't want my face going viral.

  3. C

Ako rin po. Hindi po pera ang problema kundi ang privacy namin.

Me neither. The problem isn't the money, it's our privacy.

  4. A

Panoorin muna ninyo 'tong unang video ko bago kayo tumanggi.

Watch my first video before you say no.

  5. B

Teka, kamay lang po ninyo ang kita, Pa? Kare-kare po ba 'yan?

Wait, it's just your hands, Dad? Is that kare-kare?

  6. A

Siyempre. Hindi kayo ang bida rito kundi ang kare-kare ko.

Of course. You're not the stars here, my kare-kare is.
