How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

A
Rhys, diretsahan na. Ibebenta mo ba ang taniman?
Rhys, I'll ask you straight out. Are you selling the orchard?
-
B
Wala pa po akong desisyon, Mang Herminio. Pero may developer pong nag-alok.
I haven't decided yet, Mang Herminio. But a developer has made an offer.
-
A
Kaya pala may mga taga-Maynilang nagsusukat dito noong isang linggo.
So that's why some people from Manila were measuring around here last week.
-
B
Malaki po ang alok nila, at wala po akong alam sa pagsasaka.
They're offering a lot, and I don't know the first thing about farming.
-
A
E paano kami kung sakali? Labindalawang pamilya ang umaasa sa mga punong 'to.
And what about us, if it comes to that? Twelve families depend on these trees.
-
B
Hindi ko po kayo pababayaan. Hindi ko pa lang po alam kung paano.
I won't abandon you. I just don't know how yet.
-
A
Kung sakaling ibenta mo ang taniman, sabihin mo muna sa amin bago ka pumirma, ha?
If you do end up selling, tell us before you sign, all right?
